Use watermarks responsibly

Add only text and claims you are authorized to place on the document. A watermark can communicate draft status, confidentiality, ownership, or review state, but it does not create legal ownership or replace access controls.

Balance clarity and readability

A diagonal mark with moderate opacity is visible across varied page content without completely hiding it. Very light colors may disappear on white pages, while high opacity can make text and diagrams difficult to read.

Understand the limitation

This tool draws ordinary text into the PDF. It does not prevent screenshots, printing, editing, or removal by specialized software. Use password protection and controlled distribution when stronger document security is required.

Test contrast across different pages

One watermark setting can look very different over a white title page, a dark photograph, and a colored chart. Preview representative pages before processing the complete document. Short uppercase text is normally easier to recognize than a long sentence, while a diagonal angle covers more varied content. If the mark must remain readable after printing, test a physical page because printers can render pale colors and low opacity differently from the screen.
